Reading the project work by children as documented and explained in this series of book has been most enjoyable to me. Indeed, the study of the Chinese language and our intricate writings could be very intimidating and monotonous for children, and yet you have proved that this learning could be filled with the joy of discovery and imagination.
I could see the laughter, the pride and sense of achievement from the children who had participated in this creative learning process, and have no doubt that the knowledge gained from this experience will stay with them for a long time and the seeds sowed here will impact their continuous learning behaviour.
Sensitizing children to their environment, to feel, to ask, to analyze, and to seek solutions, need the full support and encouragement from parents and other adults. The “Tips” for teachers and parents provided in each project serves this positive purpose in ensuring that this creative learning process could be promulgated and sustained. Congratulations!

《看漢字、講故事、做手偶》彙語文、科學與美藝於一體,是一套兼容教育理論與實踐基礎,活活潑潑的通識教材。尊重孩子的奇想,與孩子同樂,同創作是這套教材的特色。它引領孩子走進時光墜道,尋找中國文字的根源,發掘古人造字的精奧。
塗鴉創意間的導師深諳孩子需要透過感官學習的原理,讓孩子從觀察文字的圖像,細味它的形態,個性與動感。從而想像它要表達的意念、聲音和感覺,鼓勵孩子結合周遭的景象和物料,透過戲劇、故事、手工藝等多元方式把創意呈現出來。
中國文字的演變過程,在狀物、入景與反照生活之間,滿載傳奇和超卓的想像力。塗鴉創意間抓緊了其中「形象」和「會意」可創造的空間,為孩子開拓尋根覓字之趣,創作無窮之樂。憑藉孩子的一句話:「今天我們又玩哪個字呢?」足以證明這課程已啟動了孩子探索之源;把經驗累積、體會再而創作之道。
